Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist, and even a commentator with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. Mitchell started out as journalist for television and radio working in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. In 1992, she became the as the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debate with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her contribution in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell worked in for the White House first for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during the time of Ronald Reagan's two term as president. She covered many notable stories that included arms control taxes on the budget, as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits as part of the president Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev.
